"I'm glad." Ace's smile was creepy because it's lack of happiness. Which just shouldn't happen. He turned to the side. A rumble shook underneath Caroline's feet. Some spikes began to grow out from the ground around her where she was standing.

I cursed and stepped away. Great. I glanced up at Ace. He was actually trying to kill me. Going back to Gaea had changed him. Or was he like this all along?

Luners fight was ended when she stabbed the traitor in the chest. She looked over by Caroline again. "You want any help?" she called, dodging a strike from someone else.

The spikes twisted and shot up out of the ground into tendrils that were sharp tipped. They burst from the ground. Three of them them twisting out to impale her.

I dove to the side as one shot at me, but another one stabbed itself into my side. I bit the inside of my mouth to keep myself from crying out. It would only give Ace more amusement. I didn't pull it out for fear that I might bleed to death. I managed to whack the last one away with my sword. I glanced up at Ace, determination and pain in my eyes. "Keep going," I managed to force out between gritted teeth.

Luner saw what happened out the corner of her eye again. She didn't pay attention to her own battle. "Caroline, do you need help?!" she called out again, a little nervous. The wound wasn't light. She was forced to look back at her opponent though.

I shot Luner a forced smile. "Pay attention to your opponent!" As I spoke, the person Luner was fighting swung at her, taking her distraction as an advantage.

"Keep going...Brave thing to say." Ace replied with narrowed eyes. "But you're right. I'm going to kill you." More spikes shot out and took aim on her.

The spikes were deflected off two black blades that flamed angrily. Shade's narrowed hazel eyes glared at Ace. He stood in front of Caroline.
"You're really trying to kill her."

"Of course." Ace replied as if Shade's comment had surprised him. His dull green eyes looked at Shade. "Why wouldn't I be? Look at the battle around you. All the people fighting around you are killing each other. No one is sparing lives. Even your "good" side."

"Shade..." The world started spinning, and I stumbled, tripping over someone's sword left on the ground. I felt myself falling, and then everything faded into darkness.

Shade bent down, catching her before she fell to the ground. Fear entered his voice.
"Hey!"
An Apollo kid appeared. She took Caroline. Shade turned around at Ace, anger blazing in his eyes.

Ace smirked. "Why so angry? I said I was trying to kill her." His words were so nonchalant, it was pretty much impossible to call him Ace anymore.

Shade's anger erupted. You could visibly see it as the flames dancing on his swords exploded into an inferno. He rushed forward in a whirling flash of blades and black fire.

Ace blinked at his speed. He blocked his sword and dodged the second. The flame was so large that it actually skimmed his arm and burned him. Ace stepped back ward as a wall of earth shot up in front of him to separate them. Spikes burst out from the wall at Shade.

I looked around for someone to fight. I spotted Luner in the crowd." Need any help?" I called out to her. I caught the person she had been fighting in the back.

Shade dropped to the ground and rolled as the spikes had nearly impaled him through. He stood up and shot a black flame that went around the wall of earth to reach Ace. Shade shadow traveled behind Ace and slashed out at him to push him against his own wall of earth. This made him exhausted for using so much of his power, but he was so angry he couldn't control it.

Ace turned around at Shade. He was about to spring to the side when a flame roared out from both sides, trapping him. He flattened himself against the wall as Shade pushed his blade to his throat. It happened so fast that he hadn't even realized it. Ace looked at Shade blankly. He just stared at his hazel eyes calmly.
Ace tapped a finger against the earth wall behind him and a brick of earth shot out at Shade.

Shade was breathless, staring into those empty pools of green. They had been so empty that he had felt a bit lost. His anger faded. He hesitated. Maybe he should just take him prisoner again. His thoughts were interrupting as a large block of earth erupted from the wall and slammed into his side, sending him flying backwards. He held his side painfully. The flames beside Ace he managed to close and make them roar around Ace.
