(Ha ha, wanted to see what would happen if she had been killed. This is during the second attack from Gaea, okay? A different ending when she woke up...)
It was all black. Caroline could still hear voices around her, brisk and busy. What was happening...? She wanted to open her eyes, but couldn't. She felt tired, her body aching. And so sleepy... Something banged against the foot of her bed, causing it to shake. The shaking motions caused her to wake with a start, abruptly sitting up.
Her first thought was: Ow! She winced and her hands flew to her side as blood started flowing from the cut on her side again. Stupid Ace. The crimson liquid soaked through the white bandages on her side. She shakily pulled her hands back and saw that it had leaked through onto her hands. Ugh.
She swung her legs over the side of the bed and got off, stumbling as the world spun around her. Crap... She ignored the throbbing in her side. She balanced herself with a hand as she waited for her vision to stop spinning. She felt nauseous, but ignored the feeling. After a few moments, she tried to leave the Infirmary unnoticed. It failed.
An Apollo kid almost immediately saw her. "Hey! What do you think you're-" He stumbled as she pushed him aside, and broke into a run. It took every ounce of her willpower not to faint. She had to find Shade. He had been the last one fighting Ace. She had to make sure he was okay...
An Ares kid that she didn't recognize jumped into her path. Caroline drew her sword, facing the kid defensively. The traitor swung at her with full force. She caught the attack on the tip of her blade. The force behind the attack knocked her down. She rolled out of the way as the kid hacked downwards, and sprang to her feet. Or at least tried to. She stumbled again, and tripped. Luckily, there was someone from the camp's side nearby, and he took over fighting the Ares kid. Caroline could barely manage a nod before getting up and forcing her way through the crowd again.
She saw Shade...but he wasn't fighting Ace anymore. She almost sighed with relief, except just then, someone's sword made a long cut on her back. She spun around to face her attacker, her cuts stinging. A Hecate girl. Caroline's eyes narrowed. She knew this girl before she had joined...
Caroline was about to try to attack her; she had adrenaline on her side now. Then her legs collapsed under her with no warning. Glaring up at the Hecate girl, Caroline realized that it was one of her spells. Then she saw the light from the sun flash on the bronze of the girl's sword. Coming down at her... She tried to move, try to block most of the attack with her arms or something, but she couldn't move them. The blade sank to it's hilt in her chest. She gasped in pain as the sword slid into her. The Hecate girl smirked and walked away, leaving the weapon in her.

(Wait, WHAAAAT? It's just an alternative ending, right?)
Shade was gasping, glad that Ace had left. Terry was busy with him right now. Tired, Shade rolled onto his hands to avoid a slash from a traitor. He kicked his legs from under him and crawled back onto his feet. He spotted Caroline dashing across the field...Wait, what?
Caroline was supposed to be in the infirmary!
Shade dashed forward to stop her, only to be intercepted by a pair of Ares kids. He knocked aside their slashes and whirled in a set of deadly black flaming blades.
"Get out of my way!" He growled at them.
That's when from the corner of his eye, Caroline was stabbed. No way...Shade stood shocked and frozen, unable to comprehend it for a second. A second was enough for the two kids to react. A leg caught him in the side and sent him sprawling to the ground.
Fury erupted inside him. Nothing was going to keep him from getting to Caroline. Flames exploded around his whole body, flaming onto the two Ares kids and they collapsed to the floor.
His eyes were clouding slowly. The gray specks turned pitch black and spread until his eyes were consumed in the darkness. Hw charged forward, and the Hecate kid that was walking away caught alight with a terrified scream.
Shade let out a small gasp at the peircing screech and his eyes faded back to hazel. He looked down at Caroline and dropped to his knees next to her.
Caroline!!" His voice was filled with fear and urgency. If he pulled the sword out, she would probably bleed to death. If he didn't....

(lol, yes. I was bored and wanted to see what would happen.)
Was this the end? She had never stopped to really think about it. She had pictured her own death before, but never like this. She had always thought that she would have died from old age, or at least died from battle. But not this soon. Not now.
The world was spinning again. Every breath she took was jagged, sending a jolt of pain through her every time. She didn't know which would be her last.
She was just laying there, staring up at the seemingly never-ending sky. She had never really stopped to look at the clouds. Now that she thought about it, they were pretty interesting. Each one was unique. Some clusters of clouds even folded out into a scene. It was strange that she was thinking about this, at this moment.
All around her, she could still hear battle cries, thuds as bodies fell to the bloodstained battleground, dead. They all were dying because they were demigods. It wasn't right for them to be fighting each other. She suspected that might wipe out the population of demigods one day. Destroying themselves.

(Lol, I modified my post.)
"Caroline! Caroline!" Shade's voice added on a level of fear and urgency. His hazel eyes were terrified. He didn't want to move her. What if it made it worse? Shade looked around. Where were the Apollo kids? He reached into his pocket and pulled out the bandages he had. Of course it wouldn't be enough. He also had a canteen of nectar. He hesitated, but he had to. He pulled out the sword, wincing.

(Oh. Lol sorry, fail on my side. Eh, I'm just gonna try to go along with it.)
"Caroline! Caroline!" She heard someone calling her name. Then Shade was suddenly above her. Despite the situation, she smiled at the sight of him.
Then he pulled out the sword. She couldn't do anything. She was too tired. She glanced up at him wearily. The pain was numbed. She didn't know if that was a good thing or not.

(I gtg)
Shade tried to stop the bleeding, using up his roll of bandages. Then it gradually began to stop. Was it because she was running out or because it was working? He poured some nectar on it to soothe the wound. There was nothing he could do. He was useless...
Tear dripped down from his hazle eyes. His vision was blurred and he closed them. He didn't want to see Caroline like this...
"Why are you smiling?" He tried to stop the silent tears. "Crap...."

"Why are you smiling?"
Did he have to ask? She thought it was pretty obvious. She tried to tell him, tried to talk. "Be-because-" Her chest hurt as she spoke. She coughed, sending blood spraying on the ground before continuing. "I-you're here."
(Bye!)

"Don't talk anymore, please. I'm begging you...." But it didn't matter, right? There was no saving her. This was something only a god could fix. And the gods weren't helping them. Shade couldn't stop the tears now. Frustration made his blood boil. This was...not Caroline. Why was it her?

She tried to nod, then winced as it sent another wave of pain up her back. Wow. So she really was going to die like this? This was her last few moments?
She didn't regret anything though, except that her life could have been longer. She was only fourteen.

(...You should've killed Summer in the alternate timeline, too...LOL kk...which character should I use for this scene...Emmy is Carry's best friend, right? Ah, whatever, I'm entering her anyway.)
Emmy~
Hey-where was Shade going? Emmy had been in the middle of stabbing a traitor in the chest. Her stygian iron sword still in the guy's chest, who was bleeding to death, Emmy whirled around and saw Shade run towards...Caroline? Wasn't she in the infirmary? What the hell was she doing out of there?
Emmy just froze on the spot. The guy with a sword in his chest, Mark Curtis, was writhing in pain. Blood gushed from around his wound and was begging Emmy to kill him quickly. The daughter of Pluto wasn't even paying attention. She was focused on the scene a few yards away from her with Shade and Caroline.
No! The daughter of Neptune was laying on the ground...a sword in her chest. Stumbling, Emmy looked back at Mark. She grabbed her sword, yanking it out of his chest. Mark screamed in agony and more blood spilled out of his gaping wound and collected in a dark crimson pool next to his body.
Emmy was next to Shade and Caroline in a flash. "What happened?" She hadn't seen the Hecate kid from earlier. Actually, all that was left of the daughter of Hecate was a pile of ashes.

Shade didn't look up at his half sister. He fumbled to wipe away the tears messily. "She ran out the infirmary...And a girl stabbed her. And I killed her...but..." Why had she run out of the infirmary? Why hadn't she stayed? And what was he going to do?

(Whatever, lol)
Caroline slightly tilted her head to the side to see Emmy. She started to say hi, then remembered what Shade had told her and just smiled at her weakly. She wasn't sure what to do. There wasn't much she could do anyways.

Do something! Why was he just sitting there? But what could he do? He could only stare at her dying. He had to do something, anything. Could he make some type of bargain with his father? Would that work?

As the seconds ticked by, she found it harder and harder to breathe. At least the pain meant that she was still alive. But even so, her feeling was numbed.
A tear slid down her cheek. She was going to die. But it was everything she could have asked for, even though she was, well, you know, dying. Her loved ones were with her. She was glad that they were here.

Emmy finally remembered how to breathe and move, and dug around her bag. "I-I have nectar and ambrosia! We can, we can-" she tried to say, her voice gradually growing smaller and more desperate.

Shade shook his head, hating his own helplessness. "I tried..." He stared at Caroline and forced a small smile. "Um...I'm sure I haven't said this before, and that now is too late...an, well, I was too nervous, to, um, you know..." Shade stammered and closed his eyes in a frustrated sigh. He opened them, and his hazel eyes were rimmed with tears. "I love you."

"I love you."
Her heart really nearly stopped then. Had he really just said that? No one had ever told her that before...
She felt herself smile, a wonderful feeling. She repeated his words in her head a few times, then when she was sure she had heard right, she murmured, "I love you too," despite his earlier words.

Shade couldn't hold the smile anymore. He just wiped away the tears dripping endlessly from his eyes.
"I'm so sorry...." He couldn't stop repeating it. If he had kept her in the infirmary. If he had kept a better eye on her. If he had made sure she didn't get hurt from the start... "Sorry..."

"No..." She wanted to tell him that it wasn't his fault. "Stop...it's not...don't..." It was her own fault to choose to come out here when she obviously wouldn't last.

Shade tried to stem the flow of tears. How uncool. He looked at Caroline sadly. He couldn't do anything. Useless. He could only sit there in silence. And watch her die.
