Gail Larpin was 9 years old when she first found out she was a demi-god and daughter of Apollo, but she refused to leave her home in Pennsylvennia.
So why did she choose to go eventually?
A. She was sick of her home
B. She realised that she belonged with other demi-gods.
C. Hydras kid got her family
D. None of the above.
The answer is C. (I hope that's okay, I don't know if their's a myth where Hydra had a kid, but I really wanted to be creative)
She was at school, and like any other demigod, she was struggling. It was hard to stay in her seat and she couldn't figure out the answers to questions, and the smarty pants insulted her for it. She got her revenge, though; making sure the light rested on their eyes.
Gail's house wasn't pretty when she got home that day, at exactly 3:02:14. Her house stank of snake, and the walls were covered in blood and snake venom. Her family, you asked? Well, her step-dad, George, was found dead in the living room; which had made Gail burst into tears. She had always loved her step-dad. She didn't find the bodies of her mother or half-sister, and Gail had a feeling that they were alive and well out there in the world somewhere. Hiding in the city, maybe, or perhaps they fled to New Jersey in hope that Gail would be clever enough to find them.
So, Gail decided that she should to this Half-Blood Hill place.
Gail knew that her mother had a map to the place somewhere, (Apollo had given it to her incase they ever had a kid) so Gail went through some boxes and found the map, eventually. She started on her treacherous journey the minute she had finished packing. In her tote bag, she had her treasures and food and water. Here's a list of things in her bag:
*A hand-held Harp (Yes, she plays the harp)
*An extra pairs of clothes
*Three of her favorite books
*Her notebook
*Her scetchpad
*Her pencil case (Full of pencils, erasers and a pencil sharpener)
*Her family photo album
*A lunch box filled to the top with food
*Three economy sized water bottles
(I know that's a lot of things for a single tote-bag, but lets just say that she has a magic tote bag.)
Also, around her neck was her sisters jade nightingale necklace, and around her wrist was a watch given to her by her step-dad, and she wore her mothers blue ring. Gail loved a good memoir.
The journey was more perilous then she imagined. Furies poped up everywhere, and she only just managed to escape them each time. Her face was dirty and covered in scars. Gail refused to take buses or taxis, because their was a possibility that the drivers were furies.
She met Eagle in New Jersey. Gail had found the little song-bird with a broken wing, and decided to take her on the journey. She named the bird Eagle, after her favorite animal and because he beleived that the bird was royal, just like every eagle in America.
Gail slept on benches or something like that at night, and would get up and be on her way when her watch beeped.
For some strange reason, the furies left her alone now that Eagle was around. It was like the little bird was a satyr, only in bird-form.
Gail crossed the Brookly bridge, and trudged through Long Islands busy highways and idiot drivers (really, I live on Long Island, and about 75% of the drivers here are idiots). Soon, (Meaning two weeks later) Gail could see a Pine Tree in the distance, exactly like the one her mother had once painted and told her about.
She thaught she was home. She was so releived, she let her guard down completly and sprinted toward the tree.
Then. . . this thing happend.
A snake. A snake with a dozen heads slitherng after her. She had no weapon exept for light. So, guess what she faught the terror with?
If you said, 'Light,' then congrats, you know something obvious when you see it.
If you answered, 'A sword that appeared out of no where,' then why don't ya' head on over to the doctor?
Anyway, she used light to defeat Hydras kid.
Not possible? Jerk!
She shined the light in the dozen pairs of eyes that gleamed at her, and at first Hydras kid didn't seem to be affected. She shined the light harder.
This time, Hydras kid squinted his eyes, apparently it was working.
When Gail was confident that the snake was blind in all 24 eyes, she stept aside and lat the stupid snake slither at full speed into a tree.
That was easy; easy, but scary.
So, Gail and Eagle walked to Half-Blood Hill, where nobody said a word to her. Not in the metal shop; where she made a beautiful bronze sword and a bow with arrows she thaught was so wonderful she was suprised that no one asked if she was Hephaestuses daughter. They didn't speak with her when she walked to the Apollo cabin; okay, a someone did speak to her, but only when she asked where the Apollo cabin was. And, well, no one spoke to her in the cabin because she was alone in there. Gail unpacked and decided that what's done is done.
