Kurochi was sitting on the shore line watching the water calmly. He closed his eyes as a memory flashed through his mind. He kept hearing his and Kiyoshi's cry for there step dad, mom and there little sister. "Dad!! Mom!! Mika!!"[/b] It kept playing through his mind, haunting him for some reason he didn't know. His hand clenched together over a rock. He stood up and chucked the rock into the lake angrily.

"Hey." she says slipping soundlessly over the ground and stopping next to the boy. For once, her ever-constant animals are no where near, which for some reason makes her a bit nervous. Shade had been constantly at her side for years, so she's not really sure what to do without the dog.

Kurochi glanced at her. "Hey..." He muttered looking back at the lake.

"I haven't seen you before." She pushes a lock of hair out of her eyes, tucking it behind her ear. It falls back into her face.

"I'm new around here... I just came today with my brother...." Kurochi said not looking at her. "Names Kurochi..." He sighed softly and looked at her know.

"I'm Dawn." She smiles softly, but her eyes stay sad. She misses her mother, the woman who she left to die. Nothing is the same. She doesn't know if she will have a relapse, and end up shipped out to California again, back to the asylum. She doesn't know anything.

"Nice to meet you.." Kuro said, he was trying to hide his sadness but it seemed not to be working. He missed everyone he knew that was dead now. His little sister, mom, step dad and friends. He was hoping to try to forget by coming to the lake but seeing the water just brought more of the memories in.

"And you." She drops to the ground, twisting her legs under her. The water laps gently at her bare toes, cleaning a bit of the lingering sand off her flesh. She looks out over the water, somehow hoping to see something, but her eyes are met by only water.

Kurochi sat down next to her. "So why you out here?" He asked watching the water, he made sure the water wasn't touching his skin.

"It's peaceful." she replies. "Kind of like an escape. Camp can get…overwhelming…at times. But it helps to keep your mind off things." The smiles slides from her face. "There's a lot to forget. And it's hard."

"I wish it would help me forget... But it doesn't.... It makes me remember..." He muttered softly. He watched the water with sad eyes. Another scream goes through his mind, this time of Mika's cry of pain. He closed his eyes tightly trying to forget but nothing worked.

"I'm sorry." she whispers, then talks a bit louder, yet still pretty quietly. "My life hasn't exactly been a walk in the park. Although I did sleep in some." Crap! Why did I say that?!? she thinks

"My life used to be peaceful until i was 8.... Everything went down hill from there..." He muttered in a soft voice. 'Why am i telling her this... I promised Kiyo i wouldn't tell anyone about it...' He thought to himself.

"Nothing's ever really good for Demi-Gods, is it? When I was seven--" She breaks off, not ready to tell an almost complete stranger her life story. Especially not that part. Not her worst secret, though it's not really a secret.

"I guess so..." Kurochi said looking at her. He noticed she broke off but didn't press her to keep going. It was none of his business if she didn't want to tell him. He was completely fine with it. He could sense that it was going to rain soon but he didn't care about it.

She looks back at the boy, her brown eyes looking straight into his blue. A small spark ignites in her gaze-- the fire is back.
She had lost her flame, somewhere in the depths of the depression she had fallen into on the way to Long Island. It was something that defined the girl, that gave her her Dawn-ness. Her ability to be herself, and not anyone else.
Something had caused the fire, she's sure of it. But what?

Kuro notice something light up in her eyes. He gave her a curious look. "Is something wrong?" He asked calmly. It started to rain softly, some rain drops hitting his skin on his arm.

"Nothing." she says softly. "Quite the opposite."
The raindrops land on her upturned face, her closed eyelids. She is thankful for the rain, for it almost hides the tears that drip slowly down her face. It's strange how a simple conversation can cause so much, so soon.

Kuro grabbed his hood and pulled it on. After a few minutes small blue sparks of fire appeared on his arm leaving a slight burn mark. He flinched slightly but pulled down his sleeves. He watched her calmly. A slight smile on his face appeared.

She feels, rather than sees, the sparks. She looks back at Kurochi, strangely worried. Nothing had bothered her since running from California, but this does, for some reason. "Are you alright?"
