Footsteps through the forest could be barely heard. A long trail of blood left a path of scarlet. He was holding his arm. The fifteen year old looked around. Were there people here? He couldn't remember anything. He had checked his pockets. He had nothing but a poker card that was the ace of spades. Why he had that, he had no clue. He didn't know where he was. He couldn't remember anything. And he wondered why his arm had such a deep cut. All he knew was that he was a demigod, and he knew of the Gaea situation. About his identity, he knew nothing. What was going on?

I walked around absentmindedly. I saw that I had walked past this same tree three times. Oh, well. Then a sharp scent reached my nose. What the-? Blood. There was a line of it leading to my left. I followed the line until I saw some guy, the source of it. "Er, hi." I didn't want to scare him.

Shade noticed that someone had crossed the camp borders. He sprang into the woods to find the intruder. A demigod kid around the same age as him. Shade narrowed his eyes. Was he a Gaea spy? Maybe not...
His eyes fell onto his wounded arm. He blinked.

Two people. Of course he was startled. From the back of his mind, he remembered something on instinct. He pulled out the ace card from his pocket and spun it up into the air. It changed into a sword that had a leather green hilt. He grabbed it and held it out before him. He remembered how to fight, suddenly. He was wordless as he watched the two. They were also demigods...it seemed.

Shade held up his hands.
"Whoa, wait! We're not going to hurt you!"
He gazed at the boy. He was tired and injured. But his dark green eyes were full of defiance. He had light brown hair and a tattoo up his arm.

Instinctively, I got my sword out. Reluctantly, I lowered it as I remembered to not scare the kid. I noticed Shade out of the corner of my eye. I turned back to the boy. "Who are you?"

How did he know if they were telling the truth? He just gripped his sword tighter. Something was telling him this wasn't right. He looked at Caroline warily, and spoke for the first time. His voice was almost like Shade's. It was quiet and timid, but defensive.
"I.." The kid looked puzzled for a minute. He released the grip on the sword, and it changed back into an ace card as he lost concentration. "My name...I don't remember."

"You..what?"
Shade straightened to look at the kid. He was only slightly shorter than Shade, so their eye level was quite even.
"What do you mean, you don't remember your name? Did something happen before you came here?"

I raised an eyebrow in confusion. "You don't remember?"
I noticed something flutter to the ground. I realized that it was a card. It had turned into a sword when he needed it.

The kid grabbed the card quickly and slipped it into his pocket. He paused at their questions. He looked at Shade who had asked him what had happened beforehand. He didn't know. How had he got the wound?
"I don't remember what happened at all...I really don't remember anything." He looked at them both.

I glanced at Shade. "We should take him back to camp, then question him. He needs medical help, even if he's spying."

Shade looked him up and down.
"Question him, huh. Yeah."
The kid was a curious one. He agreed with Caroline.
"Come on, let's go."

He knew the situation. They probably thought of him as a spy for Gaea. At the word "question", he took a step back defensively. His card was out.

I nodded, and stepped to the side of the kid. "We'll take you somewhere safe," I said gently. "Come on." I ignored his weapon. My sword was in it's sheath to show that I meant no harm.

The kid pulled back at Caroline. Was it a trap? Could he trust them?
Shade's comment caught him off guard. He turned to look at the son of Pluto. "What?" A name? Ace wasn't a bad name...
He looked at the card in his hand. It fit, he guessed. "Um..thank you." Ace said. He started to follow them. Maybe he could trust them.

I smiled at Shade. "That fits." I started heading for the camp, occasionally glancing back to make sure he was following.

"Well, welcome to Camp Half Blood. It's for the Greeks."
Shade led them to the infirmary.
