I sat under the shade of a tree, my back against the trunk, watching pairs of demigods swordfight. We were all training for the battle. Gaea would win. We would win. We knew it. The camps would fail. The camps knew it too. But we wanted them to fail miserably.
The camps...I remembered the days I had been at the Greek camp. I had never even heard of the Roman camp until I joined. A pang of homesickness(is that a word?) shot through me, and it surprised me. I missed the carefree days where you could goof off at the lake. I missed the campers...Willow, Dawn, Harlow...I wonder where they were now? Of course, I had seen Willow in the fight, and she had hugged me...
They knew they would lose, but yet, they still stayed, being 'loyal.' Wasn't that me once? Always being loyal? I missed camp, as much as I didn't want to admit it.
Being here, all you did was train. Train and kill. I missed being at camp, where you could hang out with the other campers. Here, things were so strict... But I couldn't go back...could I? Even if I did, I wasn't sure if Gaea would let me. Who cares what she thinks? It's my decision...
The more I thought about it, the more I agreed. So what if the camps would lose? At least they still had the comfort of friends...of family...It was all dark here, no sunshine. We might have been smart, joining Gaea, but we had left the camps...going against them...harming them...betraying them...
I was a traitor. I finally understood the true meaning of it, just then. I had betrayed the camps. The place I had lived in when I had no where else to go. But I wouldn't have to if my mom hadn't died...and Hades was the lord of the Underworld. He could control it, right? At least the fates could. But they won't.
A new thought occurred to me. Maybe the camp was repayment for your mom... I had never thought about it that way. Maybe it was! Maybe the gods weren't all that bad, and they didn't care just about themselves...
My heart raced faster in excitement. The gods weren't bad! They had given us something in return for the death...something more...friends, a home... And we were just too stubborn to realize it. We were blinded by our hate for them at first, and we didn't think it all the way through. We were the ones who were wrong. The camp was worth dying for.
The camp that I shouldn't have left. Shouldn't have joined. Shouldn't have killed all of those people... My heart sank at that. Even if I went back, would they accept me back? I had killed some of their friends...their family...
...And I was no better than the gods that let our family die, I realized. In that moment, I truly regretted joining Gaea.
(Summer will come back! *cue cheering* But after the final battle. She'll come back when you guys have the resistance and all...So she'll be back for the final battle. But for now, she's too scared to tell Gaea for fear of what Gaea might do...)

Krissie finished whupping a demigod's butt in a swordfight, and noticed Summer under the shade of a tree. She seemed to be watching and thinking. Krissie's gaze hardened. The first thought that came to mind was something along the lines of that Summer had better not be reconsidering her choice to join Gaea.
Krissie put Daemon away. Gaea didn't have time for weaklings, or people who weren't entirely sure of their desicion to join Gaea. Krissie was 100% sure that Gaea would win, would rule, and that this was the best desicion.
Do you think that? a voice interrupted her thoughts.
Krissie scowled. Not again. The same voice and been in her head, ever since she accidentally killed Jade at the Wolf House. In her defense, she'd been aiming for Shade, not that eleven year-old girl who did end up dying.
You want to be a murderer?
I already am. Now get the fuck out of my head.
Krissie wondered if she truely was going insane. Hearing voices now, too. She just ignored the voice's constant pestering and walked over to Summer. The voice didn't get any softer. Summer doesn't seem to like it here. Why do you? You don't even have friends anymore...
"Hey Summer," she said, trying and failing to sound cheerful. You'd be much more happier off at camp.

I realized that I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't hear Krissie approaching me. "Hey, Summer. Her voice brought me back into reality. My head flashed up to look at her with a start. "What?" When I realized that she had only said 'hi', I relaxed a bit. "Oh, hi, Krissie."

Krissie forced a smile onto her face. "Whatcha doin'?" She swallowed hard, hoping Summer didn't notice the resemblence of her voice to Isabella from an old cartoon she used to watch, when her mom was still alive...
You still had friends at camp.
Krissie nearly screamed aloud. I have friends here!
You have enemies. You have slaves. You have people who fear you. Is that really worth the price?
Krissie tried to tune out the persisting voice, getting ready to bang her head repeatedly against the crumbled walls of the Wolf House or something to get rid of the stupid voice.
I'm not leaving. The whole thing at camp might've been an act, but you still had real friends who cared for you. And I know one person who cared for you even more.
Krissie's mind, as if being controlled by someone else, automatically flashed to Xavier's and her first date by the lake.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

I raised an eyebrow slightly at her reply. "Nothing, really. Just...sitting here." I turned away.

Krissie was having a very difficult time keeping the smile on her face now. It look very fake, plastered on as if Krissie was trying to sugarcoat someone that she would need a favour from later. Sadly, that wasn't the situation. Krissie's smile would've look genuine if it was. "That's cool," she said.
Have you really sunk so low as that?
That did it. Krissie stormed over to the Wolf House, which was a few feet away from the tree Summer was sitting under. Krissie banged her head against the wall a few times before storming back to Summer.
"What was I saying?" she asked, flashing Summer another grin. The she scowled when voices started talking in her head this time. More like flashbacks, snips of people talking...
"Hey, cool here right?" A younger her smiling at Summer.
"Hi people I don't know!"
"Omigod! You are a daughter of Poseidon!"
"We could set them [spiders] in the Athena Cabin?"
"Come on, you have to eat something!"
"I hate Dionysus."
"He tried to turn me into a dolphin."
Krissie clutched at her head. She was going insane. Yup, the only logical explantion for her. "Get out of my head!" she screamed, aloud this time.

I watched, confused as she banged her head against the wall. What the hell? Her smile was looking ridiculously fake now. "Um, you just said, 'that's cool?'"
I jumped back when she suddenly clutched her head, then remembered that I was leaning against a tree. I stepped to the side as Krissie started screaming. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" I was a bit scared. "Krissie...what's going on?"

Clashing of swords...
"That's the best you can do?"
"It's like one in the morning!"
"I can't sleep."
"Hi, I'm Crystal, daughter of Poseidon!"
"Dakota?"
"Oh my gosh Crystal you scared me!"
"Even though we're already here...will you go to the dance with me?"
"She doesn't like following orders...just like me!"
Krissie opened her eyes, only just aware that they were closed and she was attracting a few strange looks. "What?" she screamed and Summer, seriously irritated now. The voices...
You would give up your life at camp, just to come here?
"Go away!"
What do you really have here?
"I can't hear you!"
You'd be better off at camp, Crystal.
"That's not my name anymore!" Krissie screamed. Now everyone within earshot was staring.

I stared at her, seriously confused. "What?" Krissie screamed. "Um, are you okay?" Of course she wasn't. Krissie was going crazy. "Go away!" I blinked. "Um, okay..." I backed up a bit. "I can't hear you!" "Okay...?" "That's not my name anymore!" "What, 'okay'? I don't think that was ever your name..."

Krissie was only faintly aware of Summer talking. If she'd been paying attention, the last thing Summer said would've usually made her crack up. In this case, she barely even heard it.
Being here isn't healthy for you.
"You're not healthy for me!"
Don't you see what you've become?
"Go away! I don't know you!"
I'm not going to stop. You do know me.
"Get away from me!"
You already regret joining Gaea.
"I do not!"
You have to listen.
"I don't have to! Go away means go away!"

I blinked, backing up. "Um, sure." I wondered if I should make a run for it.

Krissie pulled at her hair. "I won't!" she screamed. "Leave me alone!" She started swatting at something invisible.

Cora was just about to go train, figuring that she needed it when suddenly she heard shouting. It was one person shouting, with her experience with shouting, Cora was sure shouting was two way, not one. Turning her head she saw two people, one girl was shouting and pulling at her hair while the other was slowly backing up. Furrowing her eyebrows, she slowly walked over. "Um.... Is she alright?" She asked the girl who was backing up, when she yelled, Cora jumped back. "Um... Need help?"

I shook my head, still looking at Krissie. "She's gone insane." I turned to look at Coraline. "Who are you anyway?"

"Well, that was obvious." Cora chuckled when the girl said the other had gone insane. "Coraline Yuill, daughter of Vulcan." She smirked and held up her hand, suddenly it burst into flames, shaking it to make the flames go out, she looked over at the 'Insane' girl and back to the other. "Who are you, and who's the insane one?"

My eyes narrowed at her question. So rude to be like that. "I'm Summer and she's Krissie. We're in the higher ranks of Gaea's army. Zeus and Poseidon."

"Awesome, I just joined about a week ago." Cora nodded with a smile. "What's that like? I heard it's a lot of pressure." She tilted her head slightly, looking back at Krissie as if saying 'Hmm.... Maybe that's what got to her...'

I smirked slightly. "Yes, it is." I glanced at Krissie again, then back at Coraline. "Can you get me some water?"

"Sure." Cora shrugged, walking towards some kid and tapping him on the shoulder, explaining she was knew and didn't know where in Hades anything was, the kid sighed and obliged, walking away and coming back with 2 glasses of water.
It was so easy, a few of the kids here were push overs, mostly the young ones. She knew where to get water, she just didn't feel like getting it.
Smiling, she walked back over to Summer and handed her the fullest one, keeping the half full one for herself and taking a sip of it. "There you go."
