(Camp...is...finally...over...!!!)
Terry sat next to the lake. He had called Shade and Caroline here. They were his closest friends. And he needed to talk to them.
His brother, Dodge, was alive. And Gaea had given him ten days to think. If he didn't join her by the end of today, she would kill Dodge.
Terry held a golden drachma. He was flipping it again and again. Head, head, tails, head, tails, tails, tails...Lorelei had told him that it was his choice. His heart was chaotic. But now, it was blank and completely calm. It didn't change the fact that he couldn't come up with a solution. She had told him to flip a coin. Heads to stay and let his brother die. Tails to join and save him.
Whatever his choice turned out to be, he wanted his friends to know.

Shade landed by a tree after shadow traveling. He took a shaky step, then regained his balance. Ever since Gaea had taken back his ability to control his powers at full potential, Shade had trained nonstop. He knew what it was like to use his powers without tiring too quickly. He wanted that feeling back.
He spotted Terry sitting at the shore of the lake and slowly walked over to him and sat down.
"You said you wanted to talk?"

A bubble floated to the surface of the water. Then another. The smooth surface erupted into ripples as I popped my head out. I swam swiftly to the shore, spotting Terry and Shade. I hauled myself out and sat on the other side of Terry. Even though I had been in the lake a few seconds ago, I wasn't wet. "So, what's up?"

Terry looked at both of them and took a deep breath. "I'm thinking of joining Gaea..." He stopped himself abruptly. Bad way to start, he supposed.

My eyes widened, then narrowed. "What?!" Terry was thinking of joining Gaea? Terry, out of all people...the person that had tried to get Shade back when he was still with Gaea? "How could you think that?!"

Shade stood up suddenly, his hazel eyes were wide. He was pretty speechless. Shade knew Terry would rather die than join Gaea. This was the person who had told the fact to Gaea's face and nearly died.
"Terry, what are you saying?"

Terry looked at both of them. He let out a frustrated sigh and rubbed his forehead. His string gray eyes closed. It was the wring way to start. "Look, Shade, remember Dodge? Gaea's been messing with me for a month now. I can't get any sleep. I'm going to go crazy. She gave me solid proof that he's still alive. I've always wanted to kill him. Then I realize he cared for me. She says if I dint join by the end of today, she'll kill him."

Shade blinked. The situation was chaos. Terry must have been feeling very cornered for the past few days.

Terry smiled at Caroline. "Thanks." He looked at Shade. He must have been just as shocked as him. "Shade, I didn't want you guys to sway my opinion by telling you early. I've made the decision. If this coin lands on heads, I'm staying. Tails, leaving." Terry fingered the golden drachma in his hand.

Terry was betting himself on a coin. That's how hard it was to make the choice. Shade watched him.
"No, I think that's alright. Well, whatever it is. I'm going with you."
Shade said. He wondered what would happen if he joined Gaea. What would Caroline think?

My gaze shot to Shade. "What?!" I couldn't believe it. He was joining again. "B-but...you..." I couldn't say 'you can't', because he obviously could.

"It's because it's important that I can't choose. So I'm letting fate decide for me." Terry said. It looked like Shade understood. "Shade, you don't have to come with me. If I happen to go to Gaea, I dont want you there."

Shade looked at Caroline and Terry.
"We'll say later. Flip the coin, Terry."
He would know what to do once he saw which side the coin landed. Caroline was too important to leave. He had been an idiot to do that before. He had to think of this carefully.

Terry stared at both of them with his smoky gray eyes. Then he closed them, and tossed the golden coin high into the air and closed his eyes. It went up inti the air, flipping again and again....

I held my breath. My mind was overflowing with thoughts. If the coin landed tails, would Terry really leave? Would Shade really leave?

The ground rose under the coin as it flipped. A crack opened and the coin landed on its side. It was neither tails nor heads. The edge of the coin stuck out of the crack perfectly.
Ace's voice came from the trees. "There's more than one choice." He stepped from behind the tree. "You can do both."

Shade watched the coin fall and held his breath. His hazel eyes widened as it landed in a crack. Not heads or tails. He turned back to see Ace trailing from the trees.
"What are you doing here? What do you mean?"
Shade's voice wasn't distrustful. Just a bit wary.

I blinked in surprise as Ace suddenly appeared. He just erupted out of the ground. Just like that. His words surprised me even more. "What? You can do both?"
