There was something grotesquely beautiful about the wisp of smoke rising under a pale moon. It was very reminiscent of the rise of the demons, of the future event when humanity finally met it's end. Was it just him, or did the moon seem to be smiling? It was only a crescent, tilted to resemble the grin of the Cheshire cat.
His gaze followed the trail of smoke to its source. The fire was not one of chaos or destruction. Actually, the fire was nothing more than a source of light and heat for some humans who had become homeless and without any sort of shelter whatsoever. The few scavengers were safe from the hunter observing them, though. Castiel wasn't in the mood to kill or torment in such a petty way. He knew that if he had the emotional capacity to, he would have felt pity for the small herd. That wasn't the reason for not killing them, though. Killing those humans felt like killing a couple of flies. Pointless and with little to no satisfaction.
Then again, there wasn't anything else around here to do. He spread his jaws, letting out long yawn. Well, he might as well continue on his way. Clearly the only thing of interest to see was the night sky, and he had seen that plenty of times in his lifetime. He slipped off his perch - an abandoned car on the side of the road - and began his stroll along the street. Castiel didn't get very far before he caught a peculiar scent. How odd. It seemed to be the stench of a demigod, a graecus. So perhaps something intriguing was in this town, after all. Well, he hoped so. The hunter took off in the direction of the scent.
An obstacle of a chain-wire fence stood in his path - ha, yeah, big obstacle - and he hopped up to perch himself at the top. There was a figure, he saw, and from what he could tell that figure was the source of the scent. "I found myself a toy," he purred when he laid his eyes on the demigod, his award-ably acute senses allowing him to know the exact location of the demigod even though it was just under a mile away. He crouched resting his elbows over his knees as he kept himself steady on the fence. It was partly bent, so it was easy as picking up a fork. Not that standing on the fence if it werent bent wasn't as well.
Castiel was at his prime. His mother was Nox, roman goddess of the night and darkness, and his father was an astrophysicist. He was better off at night than the day, so that was when he was most active. He needn't much sleep, anyway.
