I was talking to Summer, and some random idea popped into my head.
The Hunter and The Hunted~
What if you were the only chance of the survival of the human race?
What if you had powers that any human could only dream of?
Oh, and what if a hunter with powers that matched yours had one goal, and that was to kill you?
Well, nice to meet you. I happen to fit all those descriptions above.
My name is Xaphira [that's pronounced, closest to earth language as I can get, 'Sha-fear-uh'], and as far as I know I have no last name. I was born-no, created-to save humankind. If you're a human reading this, then my mission has failed, The Hunter has killed me, and earth will slowly spiral into chaos.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
I was born with remarkable powers, not meaning to brag, and my one goal was to stop mankind from continuing polluting the atmosphere, stop corrupt leaders, et cetera, et cetera.
Quite a daunting task.
However, being quite persuasive, I was certain I could accomplish this task...until The Hunter became a factor, of course.
Who is this hunter? First of all, it's [yes, 'it', because it has no gender] not just a hunter. It's The Hunter. You might say 'yeah yeah, big difference', but it is a big difference. A really big difference. The Hunter's powers match my own, and might even be greater than mine. Everytime I've had my shot at saving humanity, every single time I get plant good ideas into the minds of humans-The Hunter gets in my way. With a wide range of ways to stop me, it has done almost anything from as simple as wiping their minds of ever meeting me to something as complicated as a long, drawn out scheme that has made me a wanted fugitive in Mongolia, long story.
But now it's the end.
I'd like to give you more info on my background, but I only have little time left before I am gone for good. The basics were enough, and if I get sidetracked, it's because I'm recording my thoughts into a book.
Anyway, I was in the middle of my final showdown-I knew it was final, because...well, it's just this feeling I get. It would be impossible to explain to humans.
And I knew by final, that one of us was not going to make it out of this alive. The final showdown. Good vs Evil, you could say, except The Hunter wasn't exactly...evil. He wanted to destroy me, alright, because even though his powers were greater than mine, he definitely did not have my intelligence. He thought the humans were mangy, filthy creatures that should take care of themselves, not knowing that humans were one of the most intelligent creatures in the universe. I'm using the word intelligence loosely. Humans themselves weren't all that smart, but they had so much potential...so much potential that went to waste. My goal, on top of stopping the destruction of earth, was to bring out that potential...and The Hunter's goal was to stop me.
Back to a few paragraphs up-In my final showdown I made a fatal mistake.
Long story short, I let my anger get the best of me. Some people say if you're angry, protecting something you care about, you fight better. Apparently not for me. The Hunter knew exactly what to say, exactly what to do to pluck at my last nerve...and it worked.
Suddenly I was suffocating, a completely absurd idea to me since I can breathe in any substance, underwater, in acid, outerspace, whatever. As The Hunter leered over me, he said, in his quiet, calm, distinct manner of speaking-"You lose."
I lay dying this moment. And now the fate of the earth is teetering precariously, and earth-the planet with potential that scared even me-would soon fall into chaos.
Human, you probably did not wish to hear that, did you? I am sorry...it might've been fated this way the entire time.
I was The Hunted. He was The Hunter. The story of The Hunter and The Hunted has come to a close, The Hunter has won, and earth is doomed.
