Shade blinked, then looked down at the floor. So even someone as strong as him was dead too. He looked back up to see Caroline looking so empty and hollow. They had all changed, and he hated it. He wanted everyone to smile again back at camp. It was a dream that didn't seem to want to come true. He pushed himself off the couch, legs feeling slightly weak. He walked over to stand next to Caroline, give her a supporting look, anything. He turned back to Cy.
"You...you knew Colton?" It was a shock, and he was curious as well as suspicious now. "How?"

Caroline gave him a weary smile back, to show she was okay, that she was strong enough to handle it. The thought made her straighten her back, embarrassed she needed comforting. She couldn't look weak at a time like this, not when the camps were counting on everyone to be brave and lead them through the trouble.

Cy hesitated at Shade's question, tugging at a strand of his blonde hair nervously. A mixture of old emotions flooded back to him. Anger, love, happiness, playfulness....the last one he remembered the most prominently. Disbelief. Hate. That was why, all this time, he had actually wanted to kill Colton. Revenge, wasn't it?
"Hey! Hey! Colton, wait for me!"
"Oh, stop whining, we'll be there soon. If you can't keep up, you're useless."
"What was that?"
"....Nothing. Wait...stop for a moment, did you hear that?"
"Well, obviously I couldn't, because I was yelling at you! We're in the middle of the subway tunnels! What makes you think-" He was cut off quickly with an impatient wave of Colton's hand. Then he heard it, the scraping of claws. He turned around, and the moment he put his hand on the hilt of his sword, a lizard sprang out at them.
Monster attack! He yanked out his sword, slicing it to bits. There were more different kinds of monsters coming. "Colton! Help me out!" Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that the son of Thanatos had summoned a ghost. They were fighting another wave of monsters. Where had they all come from?
"Take a detour!" Colton ordered, pushing him away towards the exit. They both ran, getting to the ladder. Colton went first, scrambling up at an incredible speed. He went next, going as fast as he could. There was a sharp screech of metal, and the rusty ladder shook.
"Colton!" A hellhound leapt, biting into his leg with sharp fangs and clinging on. The pain was excruciating. "Colton!" He was there, staring down at him in horror. The foundations of the ladder broke. "Colton!" He held out his hand, his expression begging for him to pull him up or something. The look in his shocking blue eyes were strange, as if he were struggling with himself. "Colton?" The boy turned away from him, and the ladder gave away, falling. He hit the ground with the hellhound dragging him back by his leg. "Colton! Colton, damn you! Colton!"
Colton stared down as the monsters advanced one him. Then he shut the latch, sealing the sun from the tunnel. Colton had given him up as bait to get away. The monsters couldn't get to him now. His older brother had actually selfishly let him die here in this forever consuming darkness.
Cy stared at them, pain consuming his expression. "He was my brother. My older brother."
Terry gaped at the boy, noticing for the first time that his shocking blue eyes matched the other son of Thanatos's. "Wait...what? What? Why..." Then why had Cy wanted to kill him?

Shade tensed in surprise. "Your brother?" He asked in disbelief. "Then..."
Greyson's quicksilver began to slow its protective rotation around Cy. Terry had told him the whole story about this boy and the campers. Judging by the surprised looks, maybe he didn't need to be guarded?

Caroline stared at him, disbelief clouding her gaze. "He was your brother?" She dumbly repeated what the others had said. "Why'd you try to kill him all those times then?" Caroline blurted out bluntly. Or maybe he had been under the manipulation of Gaea during that time?
Summer didn't know what to say anymore. The others had already taken the words out of her mouth.

(Nice pic. XD)
Cy bit his lip in frustration, noticing all their confused looks. It didn't make much sense, did it? He waved at the wall of the room, and it wavered, a layer of dirt covering it.
"I know you're watching. Help me. It's going to take all of my power to show them." "...Alright, I understand."
Ace's green mark flashed as their powers joined, and his memories poured onto the makeshift screen of the wall.
Little Cy looked similar to Colton, but not too much. He was just five, and Colton was seven. The video showed them playing together, when there was an explosion and the roar of a monster. Wrinkling his nose, not wanting to see the death of his parents again, he fast-forwarded.
The two sibling were out in the streets. Colton had stolen food, and was trying to coax his little brother to eat it. Cy wouldn't. he was too shocked about what had happened. Fast-forward again.
Cy trained with Colton, battling it out with their swords their father had dropped by air mail from Hermes in pride of their survival. No, not yet. Fast-forward.
Images flashed of the two of them together, laughing, joking, teasing, arguing. Each one of them stung at Cy.
Finally, it stopped at that dreadful day. He couldn't watch. He turned away as it played out for them, his death.

After the last clip, Caroline gaped at Cy, eyes shining with sympathy. It had changed her whole opinion of Colton, too. Still, she struggled to have some belief in him. "Colton would never...he's not like that..." Well, the son of Thanatos had been rude and....but he would never let his brother die like that! Not even he would do that! Right? Caroline was only sure of a few things in life now.

Shade watched silently, feeling horror grip him. He swallowed hard, looking aver at Cy. He couldn't help but feel sorry and understand. Colton...that was Colton there. And little Cy had black hair and shocking blue eyes just like his older brother. They had looked so close. No wonder Colton had been so cold and rude at first meeting. He was a person who wanted to stand alone. His mysterious figure seemed a bit less cloudy now...

Summer remained silent, staring down at her feet after it was done. After a while, she walked over to Cy, and placed a hand on his shoulder lightly. It was shocking to see crystalline tears roll out of her eyes. "We're your family now. We won't leave you." Summer could relate to him in many ways, how frightening and miserable it was, how infuriating it was to be left alone, and was determined to do anything she could to stop anyone from feeling like she had. No one deserved it.

Cy reflexively flinched at her touch, tuning in surprise. "Why..." He was shocked to see her tears. He gave her a small and devious smile that he had given them so many times before through his make. He had been emotionless and not caring. "It's fine, it's not like I'm sad. I forgot that emotion..." He stopped, feeling a tear slid from his eye. "...long...ago..." He raised his hand in confusion and felt the wet line running down his cheek. "Huh?"
Terry watched and his gaze saddened in pity. What a horrible way to die. And he didn't even know how to cry for himself.

"Don't worry, it's normal," Summer told him, noticing his confusion, in a half attempt to make a joke. She suddenly felt very self-conscious, aware the room was watching them, but didn't care, brushing away at her tears, smiling gently.
Caroline blinked, eyes wide, tears threatening to spill, and hoped it was not too obvious. This kind of stuff just got to her, awakening her emotions again.

Shade watched, still half shocked by the ending. He turned to smile at Caroline, bryshing away one of her tears. He looked over at Cy. "See? We can be trusted. We'll be your friends from now on. We'll cry with you-no-for you because you don't know how yourself. It's okay to be sad."
Greyson watched quietly from the corner of the room. A small smile warming his expression. The quicksilver has faded, gone and back around himself, circling in a ball of luquid mercury, almost like water.

Cy looked at them all, staring dumbfoundedly. His eyes were not as dry as they used to be, but he wasn't crying. He had control over that still. He smiled, this time genuinely. He had forgotten what it felt like to smile truthfully. He didn't need to cry. They were friends, he guessed. "Um..That doesn't change the fact that no one outside will trust me. So I'll let Ace have control outside. I'll have control when no one's looking. Does that sound alright?" "Heck ya! Freeeeeedoooom!! Finally!" Cy smiled at Ace's words, but otherwise ignored them.

She stepped back to her original spot. "You don't have to be locked up in there for the others," Summer muttered softly, still feeling sympathetic for Cy. The words weren't really directed towards anyone. "They didn't trust Ace at first either, and now look at him. He's like their hero now."

Ch shook his head. "No, no way. I actually killed them all mercilessly before. I'm not sure how to apologize for destroying the whole camp in the first place. If you go back, there will be nothing there." He narrowed his blue eyes at the memory of the full scale earthquake he had caused. "If you stand by me, they'll probably kill you along with me. I'm fine as it is."
Terry smiled at his decision, deciding to like this selfless Cy. He was much more pleasant with emotions. He knew what he said was right, but he wasn't too happy about him being stuck inside either. They didn't have much of a choice. At least they could have him fight by their side now. He was strong, and wasn't bound to Gaea like Ace was. "I guess it's the only way, though..."

Summer started to reply, but stopped when she realized she had no idea what she was about to say. He was right; she couldn't find a reason to oppose against his sentence. She just wanted to help this kid. It just wasn't fair what he had been put through.
"So, now that that's set, what should we do?" Caroline asked, her voice breaking into the solemn conversation, in attempt to change the mood, a more positive air. "Maybe we should like, do something to cheer the campers up? Like, a fun event or something."

Greyson smiled at Caroline from the back of the room. His gray eyes were a tiny bit sad from news of Colton's death. This place was a sanctuary for needy demigods, like a little daycare. He had taken care of Terry when he was small before directing him to camp. Colton had only stayed for a little while, but it didn't matter, he still cared for the boy even if he was cold to him. He twirled the droplets of shining quicksilver around him. "Why not make a show of some kind?"
Shade smiled at the idea, turning to Caroline. "With all our powers, wouldn't that be nice?" he asked her, noticing the quicksilver. He could probably light it with fire, and turn it a deep maroon or something...

Caroline perked up at his suggestion, mind spinning with ideas, and settled and sharing one she had thought about when the two camps had been combined, like a friendly challenge sort of thing. "What about a show, where each cabin can do something together and show off! Sort of like a talent show, maybe?" She had been thinking that Camp Half-blood and Camp Rome could each perform something, and modified her original idea to fit them now.

"A competition." Terry mused over the thought with a smile. He looked over at Greyson. "And we have a referee too." He smiled, "We could do with some friendly competition that will distract everyone. That's a great idea."
Ace jumped out, pushing Cy back in, and his eyes turned a spring green. He ignored the protest from him, and jumped. "Heck ya! Now that I've come back to life, what should I do? Maybe I should take the side of CBH, it'll be more fair since they...lost more members." He kind of hesitated at the last part..
(Omg, Colton said he's going to come back Spring break though, we could make Gaea sabotage the show XD right before Greyson announces the winner. Then Colton jumps in with his people.)

(Yay he's back!)
"Alright." A smirk crossed Caroline's lips, along with a feeling of relief and warmth she hadn't felt in a long time. Right now, it just seemed like things were okay, that everything would turn out fine. Competitiveness caused her to grin widely. "You're on, but you know Romans are way better than Greeks." Of course, she didn't actually mean that literally, but in a teasingly joking way. It occurred to her that the competition might do just that, the campers missing the point, but Caroline didn't want to say anything about that; she didn't want to lighten their moods, only to diminish the hope again.
