I giggled. "Okay, teacher. I have an apple for you!" I offered her my pillow.

Katie sighed and grabbed Lorelei's pillow. Then she threw it out the window. "Lorelei! Are-are you going crazy or what?" Katie realized she didn't really need to ask that question. Lorelei was insane. Well, right now she was. How the heck was Katie supposed to bring her back to normal? Normal as in happy, bright, and joking again, though she wasn't sure if that was really normal for Lorelei. Like Crystal had been, Katie had thought bitterly. But she didn't want another person on crack.
Katie could almost hear Crystal's maniac laugh right now. "Poor dear, are all your friends going crazy? Are they?" This was actually from a nightmare Katie had. "Maybe you'll know why I joined Gaea. Maybe you'll find the same hatred of Aphrodite that I do of my father. Maybe one day you'll come to your senses and desert Camp Half-Blood..." Crystal had a completely different voice in her dream. It was a musical voice, but at the same time crazy and maniacal. "Camp Half-Blood's pathetic losers are going down, my dear," Crystal's voice had said.
In the dream, Katie remembered feeling helpless, trapped, in a strange spot. It was hard to breathe. The darkness was choking her. She couldn't see anything. "Cr-Crystal?
"I'm here... The voice had purred seductively. "Do you see my way yet? Why you should leave Camp Half-Blood? After all, I wouldn't want one of my friends on the other side...do I?"
"I'm not joining Gaea!" Katie had snapped in the dream, finding my voice.
Crystal's voice suddenly turned cold and menacing. "Suit yourself," she hissed.
Suddenly Katie could see. It was Crystal with a strange blade, the etching saying 'Daemon' at Katie's throat. Katie was pleading, but Crystal's eyes were a cold green colour. "Death is the fate of all those who oppose Gaea..." she hissed.
There was a flash of red blood and Katie awoke clutching her throat.

"No!" I wailed as my pillow flew out the window. Then my vision was blackness. I opened my eyes again, and saw Katie looking at me. "Wha-?" I asked groggily.

Katie snapped out of her thoughts from her dream. "L-Lorelei," she said cautiously, wondering if her friend had gone back to normal.

Katie blinked slowly in relief. "Oh, thank the gods," she muttered to herself. Looks like Lorelei cured herself. The last thing Katie needed was for Lorelei to go completely insane like Crystal did. Well, in Katie's dream Crystal was completely insane, anyway.
"Well..." Katie said at Lorelei's question. "I heard you screaming in the middle of the night. So, I ran over here-" Falling down a lot as I did she thought "-and you were being all doom prophety about Gaea destroying Camp Half-Blood. Then you were acting high and singing 'The Wizard of Oz' while you were at it, and so on." Katie skipped the part of remembering her dream. "And then you...snapped out of it."

I frowned at Katie. I stared at her for a moment...then I started laughing. "You sure you're okay, Katie?"
(She remembers all the times the darkness takes over, but not this one for some reason)

Katie sighed. "You don't remember?" she asked, curious and confused at the same time. "It happened. I'm really wondering if you're okay. I mean, you were all..." Katie's voice trailed off. "You really don't remember?" she asked, confused. "But you were all...weird...I mean weirder then usual. And giddy, and high. Well, and then doom prophety too. You said you saw Gaea take over...that's why I rushed over."
Katie indicated her clothing. "If this really didn't happen, I definitely would not be wearing this," she said. "Serious!" she said, a bit louder.

Katie shrugged helplessly. "Um, that's what I want to know," she said, sarcasm creeping into her voice. "Have you...uh, gone 'insane' before?" she asked, curious. Well, maybe Lorelei didn't know. Maybe she forgot each time. Katie remembered, awhile ago, in the forest when Lorelei told her about the darkness and all. She wondered if that was what happened tonight, but on a bigger scale...so that Lorelei had to forget it. Katie pushed the thought aside and went back to looking intently at Lorelei, waiting for an answer. But if Lorelei didn't know...well, back to squre one. And Katie doubted she'd be getting much sleep tonight.

Katie sighed. "Did I not just say you did? I mean, complete with singing, calling me teacher, giving me a pillow to eat saying it was an apple, screaming when I threw your pillow out the window-is that not going insane?" The last part was a bit sarcastic.

Katie frowned. "Um...what's that supposed to mean?" She hoped that didn't mean Lorelei was going to join Gaea or something. Suddenly some details of her dream rushed back to her- Crystal's cold eyes, her sneer, her inhuman voice..."Poor dear, are all your friends going crazy? Are they?"
Katie suddenly felt slightly dizzy. "...After all, I wouldn't want one of my friends on the other side...do I?"
Why did this have to bother her now out of all times? "Death is the fate of all those who oppose Gaea..."
