(This is close to the beach, but kinda far away and hidden....)
The lights were out in the barn. The walls were a dark looming black. the stone gray bars reflected the little bit of light that made it in. In each stall, a tall dark colored horse lunged out, reared, or glared out of the bars. A stallion screamed somewhere in the barn, which made the other horses start to pace and snort. Sitting behind the second door to the right, cleaning black equipment, was an old man. He appeared to have arthritis in his knuckles, since they were swollen and crooked. One of his legs was stretched out while the other was slightly bent. His clothes were dark colors. His eyes watched his hands work with a stern shine in them. The room was full with black saddles, a verity of bits on black bridles, and black and dark gray blankets, similar the the ones that rested on the finest looking stallions in the back of the barn. In one corner of the room - lit by a dull, naked light bulb - were old newspaper clippings on the wall, pictures of the man and multiple horses that were adorned in flowers, and huge trophies sat next to a desk. though this room was slightly different than the rest in the barn, the main similarity of every room was they all were dark and had a haunting feel to them.
Someone walked into the barn, but the man didn't seem to notice. The horses did though. They lunged at the person, baring their teeth and pinning their ears flat against their skulls. They literally threw themselves against the stall doors as they tried their hardest to kill that one person. The stallions in the back heard the rest. One screamed, a high-pitched scream. A couple others joined in. The rest of the stallions did the rest as the other horses, a display of cold-blooded anger.

Dawn slips quietly into the barn, the loud screams echoing in her ears. Her black jeans swish gently together, a white jacket pulled hastily on over a plain black t-shirt. She tugs her hood over her head, the thick fabric doing little to nothing of its intended purpose- to muffle the sounds of rage resounding throughout the barn. Her light brown eyes flick over the dark surfaces, a small grimace crossing her face at the copious amounts of dust and grime. Not seeming to notice Jason, the girl mutters, "What is this place?"

The man stood up, deciding to stretch his legs. As he opened the door and walked out, he saw the girl. He sighed and walked up to her.
"What is this place?..." he heard her say.
"My racing stables." he said. If she had heard the rumors of this trainer, then she'd know he never smiled, never laughed, never showed affection, and all of his thoroughbreds were crazy, but they all won every race they were in. One thing people also said was that his voice was emotionless and cold. Its all true.

Having made the mistake of following Dawn, as she usually ends up in strange places, Crystal was just outside barn, not really wanting to go in because of the screaming, the noises... Crystal blinked and peeked inside. Her green eyes caught a tiny shaft of light from outside and she quickly withdrew, hoping no one had seen her. She was breathing a bit too loudly and was sure that whoever was in there had seen her. Why did Dawn always end up in all these places? (...I got bored...)

(The more the merrier! I get bored at times too! Now.... What to do..... Notice? Or not notice..... Horse! Oh, Crystal... Turn on the light....)
One of the horses noticed Crystal and rammed itself against the door, which made a creaking noise. It gave off a blood curdling scream with each try. It threw its head in between the bars and tried snapping at her.
(And my muse is running out..... Too dang early....)

(Yeah, I do end up in some weird places. But that's the fun of roleplaying.)
She jumps, startled, then relaxes as she sees he's not trying to hurt her. The rumors had not reached her ears. Years ago, all her ties had been cut- some on purpose, but most accidental, irreversible. "Racing stables." she replies, her voice almost emotionless. Almost. "Why are all of the horses so… angry?" Her brow furrows as she says the last word, not sure if it completely covers the rage teeming in the enclosure, echoing off the dark metal surfaces, soaking into the wood.

Crystal gave up hiding and stepped in. "Why is it so dark...?" She muttered to herself. She didn't know who was in there so she found a light switch and flicked it. Stupid, I know. Hey you'd probably do the same if not after shouting 'Who's there?'. (I turned on the light. Why did I do that?)

"Crystal." she says, not surprised in the least to see the girl. She ends up popping up everywhere, though Dawn always gets in the sticky situations. Captured by a Lastrygonian Giant, for example. Why? It's anyone's guess. She blinks a few times, the harsh light shocking her eyes for a moment.

Crystal just looks around after burhsing the hair out of her eyes. And again Dawn ended up here and there's some old dude sitting there with horses banging against their stalls probably trying to kill us. "Um...Where...am...I...now?"

(just watch....)
Riku was walking in side as Crystal turned on the lights. "Crap!" He yelled as he closed hie eyes quickly. He didn't have his blindfold on like he normally had.
Once the light turned on, it was almost like someone shot every single horse in a split second. Each horse stopped its rage and stood silently.
The man looked down and covered his eyes slightly. He looked behind him before answering Dawn. "Its a racing strategy I came up with. One of the few risks I'll take with these champions." he said.
'Master. How many people are coming?' a horse nickered softly to the old man.
'I don't know, but hopefully it's not a party...' the man thought to the horse.
'Oh! Look! It looks like that filly.... Only colt version...' the horse nickered, looking at Riku.
Riku heard the horse and grumbled under his breath. He had been stupid enough to forget his blindfold at the cabin. The lights turned on instantly which made his eyes hurt but when it was slow it didn't hurt him.

Crystal instinctively turned to the sound of the soft nicker. "Who...what...huh?" Hey, you'd probably not say anything better in this situation.

She says nothing, all her energy focused on hiding her disgust. Racing over a horse's happiness? In Dawn's life, happiness was something she had to strive for, to fight against the odds to gain that small bit of delight. Most of the time, she failed. When the girl sees someone taking joy away, she dies a bit inside.
She notices Riku come into the barn, his exclamation surprising her, but only for a moment.

The man looked toward the nicker as well. "As I said. Its how they are trained. In dark areas they are angry and have a strong lust for blood.... In the light they act perfectly calm and trained. Race strategies." he said as he noticed Riku. 'Didn't know she married.... Oh well, she hated my guts her whole life...' he thought to the horse. 'Now shut up!'
The horse didn't say anything else, but watched Riku. 'Wh---'
'Shut up!' the man thought quickly.
Riku slowly opened his eyes. They where a bright blue topaz. He shook his head a little, he noticed Crystal and Dawn quickly but didn't know who the man was.

Crystal backed away a slight bit. "Who...are you?" She asked. Not really wanting to be rude, she accidentally added, "What's with this place?" Then she instantly shut up.

She holds her ground. "I agree with Crystal. Who are you?" She finds her revulsion with the man passing, but still looks wary.

Crystal looked confused and also looked slightly amused that Dawn always seemed to end up in these places. Not exactly the right time to be like that, but hey. It's like her.

"Jason Smith." the man said. "Race trainer. I have adds up looking for a jockey to ride my horses." As he spoke, he looked straight at Riku with dull eyes, almost as if he was staring off into space.
Riku looked at the Jason calmly. He sorta recognized him but wasn't sure. He stayed quiet until he noticed Crystal back off slightly. "You two get scared to easily....." He said calmly not looking at Dawn and Crystal.

Crystal raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything because she didn't want something to come out of her mouth that she didn't really want out. Like when she told a Dionysus kid that she didn't like their father.

"I'm not scared." she snaps. "It takes a lot more than this to scare me. If you've seen what I have…" she adds bitterly, glaring at the wall in front of her.

"I'm only kidding around Dawn..." Riku sighed softly.
Jason looked around at the people. "Isn't this great? Apollo, Poseidon, Proteus, and Artemis in one barn...." he said, walking up to Riku. "Two evil. Two good."
Riku looked at Jason carefully. He knew what he was talking about when he heard the gods and goddess's name. He wondered who the Artemis child was. It couldn't be him right?
