Izumi blinked as Shade stepped back and threw his sword to the ground. It smoked and turned gray as ash. The blowing away the hazy from of the sword. Izumi felt relief that was instantly overcome with fear as Gaea screamed.
"Krissie! Kill the traitor!" Gaea's angry voice spat out at her subordinate. Kill Shade...? Izumi didn't know what to do now.

Krissie smirked at Shade. "With pleasure." Then she lunged at Shade with her sword.
(Argh, gotta go, mom's dragging me to go swimming!)

Shade closed his eyes as Krissie lunged forward. So this was how his life was going to end...ah, that sucked. He was hoping it would be longer.... The sound of a blade striking rang through the air. But he didn't feel any pain. That was weird... Shade opened his eyes. The sight before him made his eyes widen. He was speechless. The blade had never reached him...

It hurt. The sword had pierced through her side. Her hands wrapped around the blade to keep it from sliding any farther to reach Shade. That's why it hurt so much... Jade yanked out Krissie's blade from her side. She stumbled.
"Ow, this is your fault, Stupid Nii-San. Why didn't you get out of the way?" Izumi smiled at Shade once before the world went black.

My mouth dropped open. I hurried over to Shade and Jade and Krissie. "Jade!" I turned back to Krissie. "You-you killed her." I fell silent after that and didn't say anything else.
(Sorry, my mom made me do some chores.)

Jacob stared in shock. There was no possible way to respond. This whole time he was dying inside. He barley knew these three, and he couldn't take it. When he looked at Jade... His heart was torn apart. He saw Mikayla in her face. Now he knew how they felt. This was the last time he'd be forced to take orders from these.... monsters. He was done. He glared at Krissie. She'd gone insane, but there was no excuse for this. He wanted to do something, but what?

Still gaping, I quickly closed my mouth because a fly was coming over. My thoughts were filled with the impossible, and yet possible. Jade died saving Shade...Krissie killed her...Gaia commanded her... But they had disobeyed Gaia, so they deserved it, right?

Shade caught Izumi as she fell forward. His eyes widened in horror.
"Izumi..! Hey!"
He shook her once, then picked her up, jumping backwards away from Krissie. His hazel eyes light in hatred. But he couldn't blame her. This was his fault.
Gaea screamed at them. "What are you all standing there for? Kill them!"

"No! Don't!" Without thinking, I jumped in front of Shade, Kade, and Terry. I didn't know why I did it. Maybe because I felt sorry for them. And that most of this was my fault. I had told Gaia to ask Shade to kill Terry.
In a low voice, I whispered to Shade, "Go. Shadow-travel out of here."

Not yet...She was still alive...barely. She opened her dark brown eyes, seeing Shade's eyes fill with tears. His face was angry. Ah, was he carrying her? "Don't cry...stupid Nii-San."

Confusion, that's what it all was. The crowd broke in confusion, not sure which side to take. Terry gabbed Shade by the arm and pulled him back. He looked at the little girl in his arms. Looks like he had made a new friend here. And she had saved him. Terry couldn't be more grateful or sad. He looked at Summer, not sure what to say. She was the one who had brought them here. But now she was helping him. Terry looked at Shade. "She's still alive. Hurry up and get us out of here! We have time to save her!"
Gaea was screeching now. "Kill them! Kill them!"

Jacob thought fast. Risky, but he didn't care any more. He gave Terry a look that meant, Go, I'll keep them occupied. Save the little girl. He didn't know how he'd understand, but he was a son of Athena. Jacob went straight over to Gaia. "Mikayla," he said. "I'll fight for you if you give me my sister. Right. Now."

My eyes widened at Jacob's behavior. Was he trying to get himself killed. Then again, he was a son of Athena. I drew my knife and faced the crowd.

Shade yelled at Krissie, his anger boiling.
"Freak! You're a freak!"
Shade was crying in relief. She wasn't dead. But she might die. The wound looked horrible. This was all his fault...
"Stupid Nii-San, hurry up and get us out of here."
Shade blinked and looked down at Jade who was smiling up at him.
"You're the stupid one.."
He replied, wiping his tears. He nodded thankfully to Summer, then made sure Terry was holding on to his arm. Then the shadows swallowed them up and they were gone.
