"Yeah..." Terry was relieved that the subject had changed. But he didn't show it. He picked up the bow from the ground where he had thrown it. He dusted it off carefully. Then he fits in an arrow.

I put an arrow on, then pulled it back, and let go. My arrow hit the same tree. I groaned as the dryad started cursing again.

Terry smiled a small smile. He barely payed attention to the dryad as the arrow missed the center, but hit the ring one away from it. He wasn't thinking straight. Frustrated, he tried again. This time, it struck even farther out.

I tried again. I put the arrow on, and pulled back. I tried to aim for the middle. Then I let go. I missed again. It hit the ring farthest out. At least I hit it. "I finally hit it!"

Terry nodded in reply. "That's great." He was beginning to smile again. It was less forced of a smile. He shot again, hitting the center this time. He thought to himself, reviewing facts in his head to calm himself down.

Shade was standing in the shadow of a cluster of trees. He was afraid to go out to them. His wary hazel eyes gazing at Terry. It was time to apologize. Terry's change in mood was easy to see for Shade. Even if he hid it perfectly.

"I'm not that great..." Terry answered Caroline. He knocked another arrow in. Shade's voice startled him as he released his second arrow, hitting it in the outermost ring. He didn't show his surprise. He was silent as he pulled back a third, regaining his cool. "What do you want?" His tone was cold.

"...." Terry shot another, piercing the target. It was off by a ring to the right. But it was shot with the force of anger. The end of the arrow vibrated as it sunk into the target and stopped cold.

Shade winced at the loud thunk of the arrow. He hated archery. He could hit the target, but not as accurately. He watched as the end of the arrow vibrated. Terry had shot it so hard...He must be really angry.

Terry paused. He finally turned around to look at Shade. He met his eyes. "I know. And I understand how you felt when you joined Gaea. I'm just angry at myself for thinking about joining Gaea."

Shade blinked in surprise. Terry had thought about joining Gaea? But he was the most anti-Gaea person he knew. He wouldn't be surprised if he started setting up banners and posters or something.... That made Shade grin.

Terry smiled, "Right after I shoot you through with this arrow." He joked playfully, turning the bow on him. The arrow flew and smacked him on the forehead. The front was one of those sucker tips. Harmless, but it stuck to Shade's forehead. He didn't need to shoot hard since they were close. So it didn't hurt him either.

I was worried Terry had actually hurt him, then realized that it was a suction cup arrow. Shade looked pretty funny with that sticking on his forehead. I couldn't help it, and laughed.
