(Very creative title, I know.)
Caroline
I walked next to Shade, in the forest.
I really liked this place, how it was so full of life. You could hear all sorts of animals- and monsters- scrambling around. It was mostly peaceful here, at least when you weren't fighting some monster.

Shade stuck to the shadows, trailing slightly behind Caroline. His hands stuck casually in his pockets. He was wary of any monsters that might come out and attack them.

(Meh, gtg. Have camp tomorrow. Bye!)
Caroline
A rabbit hopped out of a bush, its nose twitching. "Shade!" I whispered. "Look! It's so cute!"
At the sound of my voice, it hopped away a few steps.

(Bye!) Shade looked up, startled by the rabbit. He had almost burned it to a crisp reflexively thinking it was a monster. He kelt himself calm and released his clenched fists in his pockets. "Uh, yeah, it's cute."

(Back! Ugh, it looks like guest is back too.)
Caroline
A roar scared away the rabbit. The little creature dove for the safety of a bush. I immediately got my sword out.
There was the roar again- closer. My grip tightened on my sword. "This one sounds like a big one," I said gleefully with sarcasm. "What joy." I knew that Shade probably already had his weapons out.
Then, a chimera appeared between two trees. Its teeth were stained with its last meal. "At least there's only-"
Two more appeared from behind us and from the side. The first one was the biggest. I guessed they had formed some kind of pack.

(Ya...Terry was pretty mature about it lol.)
"Get back." Shade stepped forward in front of Caroline to find two more appear. Shade narrowed his eyes and stepped forward, slamming his hands into the ground. A black flame erupted from the ground around them, protecting the two from the chimeras. Shade's hazel eyes were narrowed with concentration. Ever since Gaea had given him this control over his powers, he had been pretty grateful. Now he could use it for them...

(lol I saw. A few months ago, we were just trying to cuss him out. xD We hadn't heard from him in a while...I think it's a him.)
Caroline
"I can take care of myself," I grumbled silently, but didn't object otherwise.
"So, any ideas? You'll tire yourself out if you keep using powers," I said gently. "I'll distract them while you pick them off, or the other way around?"

Shade turned around, his expression serious. He wouldn't tire out. Gaea had ensured that. Fire was the easiest power for him. "I'm not going to tire out if I'm protecting you. You dint have to worry about it." He turned back and held out a hand, concentrating. A spark of black fire crackled in his hand, humming with energy. Shade shot out a column of flame that broke through and blew back on of the chimeras. It roared and dispersed into monster dust. Shade stopped the burst slowly. Suddenly, Shade dropped to his knees, feeling faint. The flames died down, leaving the two chimeras slightly puzzled as they stepped forward.
I'll be taking back my gift, you traitor. And here's a parting gift. Enjoy, because I'm not through with you yet. A wave of images crashed through his mind like glass breaking. He held his head and rolled to the ground. Exhaustion swamped over him and kept him from recovering from his already tired state.

Caroline
"Shade!" Great, this was possibly the worst time for this to happen. I turned to face the chimeras.
One of the chimeras took a threatening step forward. I stepped in front of Shade. "I've got this."
It lunged forwards, the head in front breathing fire. Suddenly, a wave of water appeared out of the air, the fire contacting with it. The two elements canceled out each other, and they both faded.
While the chimera pondered this in confusion, I sprinted forward and swung my sword. The head rolled clean off. Ugh. I kicked it into a nearby bush. The chimera roared in pain from its two other heads. I did the honors with the goat and snake head. They dropped at my feet. I almost stepped on a head. Ew.
The last chimera had droll dripping from it's mouth. I could tell it hadn't eaten anything yet. Well, great. It locked it's eyes on us.

Feeling short of breath, traitor? Do you want your powers back? Shade was gasping for breath. He had overused his powers. He shouldn't have. Gaea had given him full control over them...but this sensation had to be her taking her gift back. Great, all the power he had used before then... "Ugh!" A sharp pain stabbed him in the chest, and then fatigue washed over him. He felt dead beat. He couldn't even stand. Too dizzy. He could make out Caroline in action. He cursed himself for his foolishness.

I glanced down quickly at him. He didn't seem to be well enough to fight.
So I charged the last chimera, adrenaline helping me. It wasn't as stupid as the others, so it sidestepped. I spun on my heel and slashed at its side. Monster blood splattered on the ground. The chimera roared in agony. But it didn't die. What the-?
Even possible, it was angrier. I gritted my teeth as it came at me this time. I dove under the monster and rolled out the other side. Only then did I realize the monster was now between me and Shade.

Shade wanted to help. He could make watched the dizzy image of Caroline and the chimera. He put a hand on the trunk of a tree, trying to force himself up. Before he could react, the chimera was in front of it, raking a claw at him. Shade held up an arm to defend as he stumbled backwards. His arm was batted away by the first strike, and three long claw marks shlashed his side open. He let out a pained gasp before crashing to the floor. It wasn't as bad as he thought. The scratches weren't deep...

Caroline
"No!" Crap. Crap, crap, crap, crap...
Out of desperation to distract the monster, I picked up a nearby rock and chucked it at the chimera.

Shade forced himself up on one hand, keeping a calm face. His eyes were narrowed in pain, and he clenched his teeth to bare the stinging. As Caroline threw a rock at the monster, he made one of his swords appear in its black sheath. He slide out the short sword and threw it at the very close chimera. It lodge through the throat of the lion. The monster let out an unearthly screech. The snake head took a snap at him, but Shade scrambled back.

I sprinted over to where Shade and the monster was. I swiped at the goat head with my sword, and the monster turned. I stabbed the monster quickly in the side. I cursed as the snake head curled around my sword arm. I gritted my teeth and punched it, not knowing what else to do.

Shade let out a sigh of relief as the monster turned, but it quickly turned to fear as the snake head wrapped itself around Caroline. He tried to force himself into a standing position, but his side burned. He saw no other way. Shade held out a hand in concentration. Just use the rest of his energy... The end of the snake head erupted into flames. It unfurled itself and let out a loud hiss and Shade cut off the heat as it was burned dead. One more to go... Shade felt the world turning dark before him. He could barely keep his eyes open. The chimera turned angrily at Shade, the last head glaring at him,

I sighed as the snake head let go, then realized that Shade had used his powers.
I saw that the last head was turned towards him as he tried to keep standing. Damn. The last head lashed out, the perfect chance. I snuck behind it and brought my blade down, hard. The head dropped in front of Shade what was left of the chimera's body started melting into golden powder.

Shade let out a small sigh. He couldn't help dropping to the floor like a deadweight. He was so sleepy and tired. The claw marks on his side stung. Everything was hazy and blurry like a dream. He could make out the form of Caroline standing over him. He managed to mumble with a small smile. "Hey, thanks..."

I smiled down at him, my eyes shining with worry. "No problem. But we need to get you back to camp..." I really didnt know how, so I tried dragging him under his arms.

Shade closed his eyes tiredly. He had no strength to walk even. So it made sense that Caroline was trying to drag him, but his wound stung from it. He gritted his teeth. He had been too stupid. Gaea had almost caused hi to die. Shade narrowed his eyes at the thought, but then blacked out.
