I shot Krissie a nervous glance, then turned my attention back to Ace. I brought the needle closer to Ace...but I couldn't do it. I gritted my teeth and shot a glance at Krissie, then back at Ace.

"What are you doing? Hurry up." Ace sensed doubt coming from her. Well, he was a sensor type. He didn't even need to look at her t know she was hesitating. Gaea was probably watching...

I glanced over at Krissie to see if she would volunteer. When she said nothing, I sighed. I closed my eyes and looked away as I stuck the needle into him.

Immediately the mark on his left shoulder flashed a bright forest green. Ace gritted his teeth as his whole body began to burn. He closed his bright green eyes to keep from yelling at the pain. He pushed her hand away and yanked out the needle when the contents were emptied into his arm. He threw it on the floor. He was shivering despite the feeling like he was on fire.

I flinched at his reaction. And I would have to do this to him every hour... I didn't understand how Gaea could live, doing this to her own son. With shaking hands, I picked up the empty needle.

Ace was trying to control his breathing. He looked up at Summer and Krissie with narrowed eyes. The cage rose up again and closed around him. What were they going to do now? Stay here and mock him? He felt like a piece of wood hurled into a blazing fire. He really hated his mother now. The timer next to his cage clicked and the numbers began counting down again. Ace didn't know how he was going to be able to handle this. It was like torture. No, it was torture. Gaea just wanted him to be loyal again. There was no way he was going to that. He would rather face this than help her again.

Krissie smiled coldly. She'd sensed Summer's doubt. She knew that Summer didn't want to stick the needle in Ace, so when Summer looked Krissie's way, Krissie did nothing but glare back.

Ace glared at Krissie. Obviously she was enjoying this. So he took a deep breath and tried to show no more signs of being in pain. But the poison inside of him still blazed white hot. The bright green mark on his arm glowed.

"Well..." I finally said. "So, how do you feel, Ace?" Stupid question, I know.

Krissie yawned. "You guys can chat. Buh-bye." She turned around and walked away.

"Bye, Krissie," I muttered softly. I sighed as I sat next to his cage again.

"Feeling like crap." Ace managed to say between uneven breaths of air. "But thanks for worrying." He said sarcastically.

I winced at his words. "You know I didn't have a choice." Well, actually, I did, but, you know...

"I know perfectly well." Ace closed his eyes. He was shaking. Side effect maybe? "But the fact that you didn't want to is good enough for me."

I sighed. "I don't know what to do. Should I stay here, or go?" I didn't know why I was telling him all of this.

Krissie had been deliberately walking slowly after turning at the corner of the Wolf House. She was now completely out of sight. She froze when Summer asked, "Should I stay here, or go?"
What?
Krissie resisted the urge to spin around and storm back to Summer. Instead, she hovered where she was, just within earshot of Ace and Summer.

Ace was already worried about his situation. But Summer's question caught him off guard. "You know my answer if you ask me. It's your choice. No doubt Gaea will really hate you if you leave though. The campers will also have some trouble trusting you." The mark on his arm flared bright green again suddenly and Ace winced.

I sighed. "I really don't know. But I've been...thinking about it, and it seems like we really are the bad guys."

"You just figured that out?" Ace shifted in his cage. The pain flared but he ignored it. "Well, then again, I figured it out a few weeks ago too."

"Yeah," I admitted. "I just figured it out." I sighed. "I don't know what to do."
