They landed by the lake. Since it was night, he could go almost anywhere shadow traveling. The ground spun and he sat down quickly. His vision was dizzy, and he felt slightly drained. He caught the basket that they had brought along at the last second.
He looked around for Caroline. His head was spinning and hazy.

I appeared next to him. "Are you okay?" I took the basket from him and set it on the ground before he could drop it.

"Yeah...." He put his hand to his forehand. Shade was trying to stabilize his vision. "That was just the first time I shadow traveled two people.....and a basket." He smiled, making sure she wouldn't worry.

I laughed at the 'and a basket' part. "The moon's so pretty tonight." I sighed.

"It's bright...and pretty." He looked up as his head stopped spinning and the moon went from two to one. He sighed. Finally. He layed down on the grassy hill to look up at the sky. He turned his head to look up at Caroline. Her hair shone so brighty in the moonlight. "But it can't compare to you."

I turned to look at him, smiling. "This is really nice, sitting here alone, without anyone spying." (For people who are reading this: Get a hint. xD)

He smiled. Yeah, he was glad no one was spying this time. "Not alone." He snapped and a black fire lit up on his finger. He concentrated, turning the color brighter, into a deep rose red. Black was the easiest, but it didn't suit wha he did next. The flame floated into the air and formed a heart in the night sky. He didn't have the power to turn it any brighter. But rose red seemed better than an orange red.

"That's so cool!" I praised. I stared at his face. His hazel eyes were amazing. The specks of gray stood out in the moonlight.

He nodded in thanks. He smiled and looked at her. The flame dissapeared with a tiny whisper. And smoke in the shape of a heart floated into the air. Shade put his hand down. He put his arms behind his head and crossed his legs. "You think so? I fail at my powers. That was basics."

"Really? That was basics?" I laid down and stared at the stars. "Do you think that the gods are up there, watching us now?"

Shade looked up. "Probably. But now that you mention it, it makes me feel like they're spying. I think Aphrodite would enjoy this." His smile slowly faded. What about his father? Was he watching him? He was in the Underworld. He knew his father could still see what was going on. But did he care about him? Was he watching him now?
(gtg eat some lunch.)

(Bai!)
I laughed. "I have a feeling she's watching." Then I tensed. My father. Poseidon. The three brothers had rivalries and...oh boy. I pushed away the thought. Why should I care what he thinks? I'm happy, and I wouldn't regret this. Not ever. I relaxed at that.

(I am back! And full...)
He propped himself up on one elbow and looked down at her. "Well, even if they are spying, It's just us right here. I'm glad we came here." He grabbed the basket and sat up. "Do you want anything?"

I shrugged. "I'm not that hungry right now."

Shade dug through the sweet stuff. He wasn't really the type to like sweet things. He didn't have one sweet tooth in his mouth. Haha, pun. Shade just grabbed a bag of chips and popped it open. He chewed on one and gazed at the water. "You have family?" He had nothing to talk about.

My eyes darkened. "I-I don't know what happened to them."

Bad subject, stupid. Shade could tell immediantly it was a touchy subject. Why hadn't he thought of that? Most demigods didn't have a happy past. "I don't have any either. Um....so do you have any weapons or gifts from your father?" He tried to steer away from the subject. It was a lame attempt.

I shook my head. "I never even knew who he was until I came here." My tone grew more bitter with every word.

Even worse. Shade felt a bit frantic. Um... "Well, do you have a weapon of your own?"

I nodded, and my mood lightened. Just slightly. "I have a sword."
