Shade shrugged, eating the cookie slowly so the sugar wouldn't overwhelm his tongue too suddenly.
"Yeah, I guess they really are. I haven't eaten a lot of cookies before though."

"Year-round. I don't even know how I got here...it was all black, then boom, I appeared in the Neptune cabin...what about you?" I asked, hoping he would be yearround too.

"Year round, of course. I don't have a home outside here. Unless my father pulls me back to the Underworld. Which I highly doubt because he's trying to keep me from remembering it."
Shade's eye were dark. But they lightened at the thought that Caroline would be here with him every year.

Shade almost jumped at the touch. But he relaxed and nodded.
"Yeah, he has nowhere to go either."
He tightened the grip on her hand a little.

Shade felt like blushing, but it was a hard thing to do. So he just got nervous.
"Yeah, me too....The powers are a bonus. But I don't see how they can be useful to a real human. When you're small, you're always imagining yourself being a superhero, but now that you're older and you have to fight for your life, you regret it."

"Well, we know now it's impossible to save the world. Even with powers. All we can do is use them to survive from monsters."
Shade opened his hand, and a black flame sparked to life on each of his fingers and danced in the moonlight.

"I can't control my powers very well yet. Once in a while, something goes wrong." I smiled at the time that bully, Jim, had tried to punch me. The water fountain exploded next to him.

He looked up.
"Don't worry about it, me too. I know how to use my powers, but I'm bad at them. I can summon ghosts, the skeleton soldiers, and fire. But I faint at two ghosts or skeletons. I can use as much fire as I want, that's the easiest. But it's hard to turn it hotter and brighter. I can shadow travel. But the minimum amount of people is two and I can do four people in one day or else I faint."

I laughed. "I can barely make a water globe around myself for five minutes. Whenever I heal someone with water, I get a bit dizzy. It used to knock me out. I'm way worse. You're like, awesome, compared to me."

"You can move water around, though. And I would be nowhere without my mentor. He oversaw my training and helped me with it. I wouldn't know how to make a candlelight without him. You figured your powers out by yourself.cypher the amazing one."
